AC & DC Ameters

An AC ammeter is a device that measures alternating current (AC) in an electric circuit. It works by measuring the RMS value of the AC current, which is the same value of direct current that produces the same amount of heat as the AC current when passed through a resistor for the same time.

AC ammeters can be used in both AC and DC circuits. They work by using magnetic deflection, which causes a coil to move when current passes through it in the magnetic field of a permanent magnet

DC ammeters, on the other hand, can only measure constant current (DC). This is because the average value of current for the complete cycle of alternating current is zero
